The Systems Engineer (Simulation) will play a crucial role in designing and developing physics-based systems simulation platforms to create digital twins for advanced X-Ray system geometries. The role demands a strong grasp of X-ray physics, systems engineering, and simulation methodologies to support early conceptualization, feasibility studies, and design validation. Role & Responsibilities

  • Design and develop physics-based simulation platform architecture for Advanced X-Ray systems.
  • Build and use digital twin models to validate novel system geometries for baggage screening.
  • Assess and finalize system design requirements based on simulations during early concept stages.
  • Develop software design platforms using model-based systems engineering principles.
  • Rapidly learn and adapt to evolving topics in X-ray physics, systems architecture, and simulation methods.
  • Translate system-level requirements into simulation platform specifications.
  • Analyze large datasets and extract critical insights relevant to system performance.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, software, imaging).
  • Document research and design outcomes clearly and concisely.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the division.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should have:

  • Educational Qualification: Master’s in Engineering (MSc, M.Tech) or PhD in a relevant field.
  • Strong research mindset with the ability to document work methodically.
  • Solid knowledge of CT Systems Engineering and simulation platforms.
  • Working knowledge of X-ray systems principles and safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with end-to-end CT system design and its effect on image quality.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation tools like Geant4, TOPAS, MCNP.
  • Experience with graphics toolkits like VTK, ITK, 3DSlicer.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, Java, JavaScript.
  • Analytical skills to interpret large datasets effectively.
  • Ability to maintain clarity of thought while solving complex problems.
  • Knowledge of AI-based software design approaches.
